3 Reasons You Need A Signature Story
I remember sitting in the chair, stressed, ready to quit mentally and wanting to sleep because I could see a very grueling week ahead. I had two keynotes and three training days booked and I was delivering a brand new training. So, my preparation was critical. The issue was I could only focus on what was right in front of me. I couldn’t think two days ahead because I need to prep for today and the next day.
If you speak, present or train, you’ve probably experienced training overwhelm or fatigue. You have multiple audiences and multiple presentations and preparing for all of it is stressful.
You want to deliver great content. You want to connect with the audience and you want to be memorable. But, it’s hard to do this if you don’t have the time.
Well, one way to navigate this challenge is with a signature story. What is a signature story? On its face, it is simply a message or story you repeat over and over again. But, it’s so much more.
Brand guru, David Aaker, defines signature stories as “strategic messages that energize, persuade and inspire.” So, it’s more than just a repeated story. There is a planned method which helps the storyteller to engage with their audience in very specific ways.
