The other day, my dad called me an “eternal optimist.” He smiled when he said it but I wasn’t sure what he meant.

My wife called me a dreamer. She said she looks at me and almost feels like I live in an alternate reality. She smiled when she said it but I wasn’t sure what she meant.

My daughter asked me how I always seem to be motivated. She was having some trouble waking up to complete a project. But, she noticed that more often than not, I was up pretty early. She figured that took motivation. She smiled when she asked, but I wasn’t quite sure what she meant.

I’ve complained, whined and been negative before. I’ve had moments where I’m almost sure I was pessimistic. I’ve had days where I totally wanted to quit and not do a doggone thing.

But, for some reason, I’ve decided not to stay there. I’ve decided that I’m worth recreating. It’s what you have to do once you go down those roads of negativity and pessimism. Those roads are downhill.

How do I know? They are easy. Once you start moving down them, you begin to slide and pick up momentum. In order to get off, you need to get ruthless and kill the journey. It’s going to hurt. It’s not going to feel good. Then, you must recreate yourself and start the arduous climb in the other direction.
