How Speakers & Leaders Can Beat Impostor Syndrome
You’re standing in front of the meeting room, the training room or the auditorium and as you look out at your audience, the questions pound your brain.
“Why the heck am I up here?”
“Why should they even be listening to me?”
“Are they going to find out I’m not as smart as they were told I am?”
“Do I even REALLY know what I’m talking about?”
As if the questions weren’t enough, the statements come barreling behind…
“I don’t have anything groundbreaking to share. They already know this stuff.”
“Let’s just get through this quickly!”
“Oh boy, I don’t like how they’re looking at me.”
They come hard and fast and you’ve only been standing for 2 seconds.
Now, your mind has to work super hard to remember your talking points and the transitions.
What a mess!
Impostor Syndrome is the irrational fear that no matter how much you have achieved, it’s all going to come crashing down at that very moment and you’ll be exposed! If you allow it, impostor syndrome can derail your talk, your conversations, and even your leadership.
