I’m Avoiding This!

I’m sitting here on my bed and I’m avoiding. I need to exercise. I don’t like it but I do it.

However, lately, I’ve been wondering if I can reprogram my brain. If I tell myself I like it, will I begin to like it or maybe dislike it less?

Don’t get me wrong. I enjoy physical activity. I like playing basketball. I love softball and baseball. I love being active. But, as I get older, there are fewer people who want to do it all the time or have time for it. So, in order to stay in shape, I have to like solo physical activities more.

When I was in college or even after, I could always hop over to the gym and find people playing pick-up games. My heart was in great shape and I could play for hours.

My ticker still works pretty well now but the recovery time is a beast.

So, what can I do to enjoy exercise more or am I resigned to it being a MUST DO activity for the rest of my life?

I’m going to take on the positive frame. Let’s see how it works.

I love what I look like after I exercise.

I love when the doctor says, “Dude, you’re in great shape.”

I love how my suits fit when I’m in great shape.

I love feeling younger.

I’m feeling different already.

So, maybe it’s not the activity. Instead, it’s loving the potential and possibility the activity presents.

What do you think?
