Sometimes You Need A Break

I took a 30 day hiatus from writing. I didn’t blog. I didn’t journal. I didn’t do much reading. I didn’t do much of anything with regard to writing.

OK, I still wrote emails. AND, I also wrote in my planner every day. But, I didn’t do the writing which requires thought.

Unlike what you may be thinking, it wasn’t an INTENTIONAL break. I do those from time to time. I intentionally decide I’m going to take some time off and then I do. This time, it was more of an energy thing. I just didn’t have the mental energy to write and so I didn’t. I wrote a post on the 29th. Then I looked up a couple of weeks later and said to myself, “You know, I SHOULD write something.”

But, then I didn’t.

This happens from time to time. Sometimes it happens and you must push through. And other times, you must listen. The hard part is telling the difference.

And sometimes, it’s not about telling the difference. It’s more about deciding you will simply live with the result.

Once you get here, then things become ok.

And then, in due time, you pick up the pen or the laptop again and you begin to write, because…well, it’s time.
