The First Time Matters

“You don’t get a second chance to make a first impression.”

Your smile. The way you stand. The way you listen. Your energy. The way you show up. The way you respond. It all matters.

Sometimes we give each other a break. But, the truth is, we all receive energy from that first interaction. It may not taint the relationship forever, but if the first interaction is a bad one or even a lukewarm one, you’ve got to work hard to swing the needle back in the other direction.

Maybe this is the reason some people don’t go out of their way to experience anything new or meet anyone new. They are nervous or don’t want to put in the effort for that first meeting.

But it matters. And, if we admit it to ourselves, life is better when we can leverage our relationships. It’s easier to leverage them when we have gained trust. And trust is gained from that first moment.

Don’t take those firsts for granted.
