There is a strange magic hidden in your smartphone. This magic has the power to make you do things you may not have previously imagined. Once the spell has been started, this magic has the ability to make you go beyond what you originally planned.
What’s odd is how little we use this magic. Used frequently enough, this little item has the power to change how we operate. This is why it’s scary. We resist using this magic because we know it might pull us out of our quitting zones and into a vortex of success. And success is scary. It’s scary because it’s filled with expectations. You know the deal. Once you reach a certain level, you’ve got to do more.
And this magic pushes you to do more. Simply looking at this magical item causes you to mentally form the phrase, “I can do this!”
What’s the magic?
It’s your timer app. Yes, that simple application that does nothing more than countdown to zero.
Here is how this works. You set a goal of exercising every day but you get bored with the video and you don’t feel like hopping over to Planet Fitness because you’re tired. So, you set a timer for 5 minute and decide you will just do simple exercises like jumping jacks, sit-ups and pushups. Before you know it, your timer says 1:30 and your mind says, “I can do this. It’s just 90 more seconds.”
