To Grow, You Need To Try New Things
If you want to grow, you have to be willing to try new things.
I go to the gym at least 2–3 times per week. But, I wasn’t accomplishing what I wanted with my body. I’m definitely getting stronger and I see some size differences. But, I wasn’t hitting the abdominal area like I wanted. So, I began looking for something new. I came across IF, or Intermittent Fasting. I’m going to give it a shot and then I’ll let you know the results in the next 10 days. New thing!
We are almost at 2018. I’m doubling my revenue goal for 2018. The number itself doesn’t scare me. I just don’t know how I’m going to hit it yet. Working harder won’t get me there because I would have to work twice as hard. But, I don’t have twice as many hours in the day. So, I’ll need to try a new thing.
I’m a big technology buff. I track a lot of information in Evernote. I use software like Asana to keep track of projects, tasks and To-Dos. I use many other business apps like Bluehost for site hosting, Google Drive for my document management and Zoom for my meetings and webinars. But, I have the problem of tech overload sometimes. So many notes and not always enough time to grab a device or go back to the note. I decided to try something new.
I began using a written goal-setting journal by a company called Best Self. it helped me break down goals into 13 week sprints and keep me focused.
I share some info about it here:
I’m on my second 13 week period using this book. Results? I was able to generate more income this quarter than any of the previous 7 and was more focused on my goals. Getting closer to erasing all of the business debts I’d created in my previous business. Was it the new thing or did I just decide to get more focused? I don’t have the definite answer. But, the search for an answer leads you to options worth attempting. You won’t get to the result unless you are willing to take action on SOMETHING! A new thing!
What big challenge are you facing right now?
It might be time to think about how you can face it by doing something new.
If you are used to doing things on your own, how can you get people involved?
If you are used to using technology to solve your problems, how can you go analog for a moment?
If you normally go fast, is it possible to go slow for a minute?
If loud is normally your thing, what would quiet sound like?
Give some new things a shot and let me know your results.
I’d love to hear them.

The key is not to be afraid of re-invention.
Never be afraid of learning new things and doing new things.
This way, you never plateau. As you continue to actively learn new things, you will continue to activate a creative part of your brain.
Continue to expand and grow by simply trying new things.
