What To Do When You’ve Got Nuthin’
Don’t break the chain. Sometimes it feels like that’s your only motivation. And sometimes, that HAS to be enough. Because you’ve got nuthin.
You’re fresh out of ideas. At least it feels like it. You’re tired. You begin to question everything you’re up to and wonder whether or not it has value. In the moment, every excuse is telling you, “It’s ok, you can just start again tomorrow. No one is going to know the difference.”
But, you feel responsible because you’re telling other people they have to push through their challenges. What kind of crazy hypocrisy would it be if you let yourself off the hook that easily?
That’s a thing. It’s real. Most people don’t imagine you would feel that way because they see you in action and they feel like you’ve got it all figured out. But some days, you’ve got nuthin’. And that’s ok. All tanks head toward empty at some point.
Here’s when you pull on the reserves. Here’s where you grab the fumes. The big picture demands it. It doesn’t matter if it’s perfect. All that matters right now is the chain. All that matters right now is not losing momentum. You might be on autopilot for today but you’ve got to hang in there. Whether you know it or not, someone is depending on you. It might feel like you are pouring your last drop but someone needs that drop for sustenance.
But something amazing happens. You make the decision to pour out that last drop and suddenly, it begins to transform. Your fingers begin to fly over the keys and the train begins rumbling. The “nuthin” you thought you had begins to turn into something beautiful. And now, you begin to find joy in the fact that you chose to obey the voice. You chose to block out THE RESISTANCE and play the game. You chose to take the chance of dying empty instead of living with regret.
And now, your nuthin looks like more than you could have imagined when you began.
